Vacationland New England Vintage Poster Art

June 4, 2012 by JJ in Art & Design with 0 Comments

Don your summer Skimmer and grab your tennis racket, you’re headed to New England. Adventurous aristocrats of the 1920’s flutter away with their rackets, croquet sets, and fishing poles in hand. The conductor greets the tourists, as bellmen pack their luggage towards “Vacationland.”

Join the ranks of the Vanderbilt’s, the Kennedy’s and Europe’s elite this summer on the seashores of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Or find solitude in the mountains of Vermont or the back country of Maine. Each far away from the sweltering heat in the cities of a pre air conditioned era.

This Railroad advertisement published in July, 1928 was illustrated by New York Artist, John Helm.

More information about this historical print from the Library of Congress.
