Then & Now: A 1948 School Bus Conversion #throwbackthursday
Was your motorhome turning heads in the 70’s? This one was. Peep this photo taken in 1977, of an already vintage bus conversion. Rust colored paint and gold floral curtains, check. Add to that some serious home-worthy modifications and you have yourself some old skool cool.
You’re getting a throw back view of this 1948 Skoolie conversion in all her 70’s era retro flair. Get a load of those awesome vintage lamps! Her conversion includes a raised roof, a 95 gallon fresh water tank, two 65 gallon waste tanks (bypassable for a direct-to-sewer connection), LPG heat, 1 roof A/C, a household style heat-pump mounted underfloor, 10 gal LPG/Electric hot water, a CAT3208 turbo with Allison 643 transmission, and a 10 KW diesel generator. Whew!
And her now…
Current owner, Mike Siebert picked her up in 2011. He has updated her paint, added slick aluminum wheels, and has done some interior mods too. Oh, don’t worry! Those vintage gold lamps are still hanging. A throwback to her past. We vote, “keep’em,” Mike!
