We’re Jeanette & Dennis, aka JJ & Snagbird, two romantic internet junkies and web design monkeys who love to travel. Our curious spirits and a few crazy ideas have landed us a life on the move–we’re now Motornomads aboard a 1978 bus, dubbed the Cheddar Yeti.
While we’re not sure if it’s the exhaust fumes or the decomposing shag carpet that’s made us motoring mad hatters of sorts, we do know that since hitting the road in our vintage house on wheels, we see art a bit different now.
Seeking trash murals made by passionate mad men, chasing faded neon signs scattered along lost highways, and rooting for a Winnebago meth-lab on TV are all creative addictions that we’ve succumbed to.
Have you noticed how often pop culture is inspired by old motorhomes, trailers, and off-beat travel? Road trip movies, Sci-Fi movies, music videos, television shows, adventure books, kids toys, travel advertisements, celebrity retreats… you name it. Film makers, art directors, designers, and visionaries from all over the world seem to have an eye for this mysterious, eccentric, art form. And we can’t get enough.
Nomads and wanderlusts too are curating this art–right from their smart phones, cameras, sketchbooks, and travel blogs, everyday. Snapping photographs of funky old Volkswagen buses, capturing passing coastlines in a rearview mirror, drawing plans for a biked pulled camper, building a surf mobile, writing stories of overland adventures, and cross country road trips. We love every bit of it.
Our fascination with the art and design of nomadic dwellings and off-beat travel inspired us to create Motornomadics.
